What Do Women Find Attractive in MenLast Updated: March 18, 2019
The dating game can be a difficult one to master. If you are a young, single male, you may find yourself constantly wondering: What do women want? How can I make myself more attractive to them? What will it take to find the woman of my dreams?
Well, gentlemen, we have a secret to share with you. It's a secret that most men, surprisingly, don't know about women. And that's a real shame, because knowing this one secret is the key to opening doors and giving yourself opportunities with women that you'd never have dreamed were even possible. And we want to share this secret with you.
Prepare yourself, because for most men, this is some pretty earth-shattering news. Are you sitting down? Have you actually, physically braced yourself for this? Do you have a teddy bear or other stuffed animal nearby that you can squeeze for comfort? You might want to do all of these things before letting your eyes float down the page, because learning this secret may very well blow your mind.
Are you prepared? Good. Because we're ready to let you in on our secret now. And that secret is:
Women are People - Just like You
Yes, you read that right. That's the #1 secret to making yourself more attractive to women: stop thinking of them as strange creatures from Venus who have thoughts and ideas that are completely alien from your own. Start thinking of them as rational human beings who have the same basic needs and desires for happiness (especially relationship happiness) that you do.
This process is actually simpler than you might think. Start off by taking a minute to picture your ideal woman. Is that person in your mind right now physically attractive? Relatively intelligent? Do they enjoy the same hobbies that you do? If you answered "yes" to most of those questions, then congratulations, you've figured out how women think - because most women want the exact same qualities in a potential romantic partner that guys do. Isn't it funny how much men and women think alike?
Different Women are Attracted to Different Qualities
Like most individuals, every woman is different, and will have different preferences when looking for a mate. Some women like skinny guys, while some prefer them muscular. Some women may be searching for financial security, others may want compatibility, and some might want a combination of both. On top of everything, whether a woman is looking for a long-term relationship or a short fling (yes, women enjoy casual sex too - they're just better at being discreet about it) will drastically change her preferences, just like they would yours.
The down side to this truth is the fact that there is no silver bullet that will make you irresistible to all women. There are just too many different women out there with too many different preferences to make that a reality. The silver lining, though, is highly liberating. By figuring out what type of woman you want and learning the preferences of that type, you can make yourself into the kind of man that such women desire. There's no need to stress yourself out and spread yourself too thin trying to attract all different types of women. That's practically impossible. But you can make it much easier to attract your preferred type of female.
Be Realistic - and Don't be a Hypocrite
The reason most men find themselves single and frustrated is because they break those two very important rules. They secretly (or not-so-secretly) yearn for a perfect 10 kind of woman, but don't indulge in any sort of self-improvement that might make them seem attractive to such females.
Before you go any further, ask yourself this very important question: what kind of woman do I want? Whatever that answer is, make sure you have similar qualities to offer her in return. If you want an athletic woman with a nice figure, make sure you aren't rocking a couch potato body yourself. If you want an educated woman, make sure you have enough book smarts in your own brain to captivate her with stimulating conversation. Whatever you're looking for, make sure you have something of value (not necessarily monetary value, either) to offer her right back. This will make you stand out from the rest of the crowd, and it will give you the quiet, mature confidence that most women find simply irresistible.
While the aforementioned tips are probably the most helpful bit of relationship advice you may hear all year, there are a few basic rules of thumb that can, for the most part, apply to the vast majority of women. Below, we'll examine both the physical and emotional characteristics that men can adopt which will improve their chances with compatible, desirable mates. But keep in mind that the following tips will vary in their efficacy from one female to another. They aren't 100% foolproof, but they are helpful.
Female Desire and Evolutionary Psychology - Is It Relevant?
The correct answer is "maybe, but not as much as you might think." A lot of theories on dating have been proposed lately that revolve around evolutionary psychology. This theory, in a nutshell, says that women are attracted to men who show signs of having an "alpha male" status. These signs could be physical, i.e. having large muscles, or emotional, such as acting like a bully and treating other people disrespectfully. They can also be material - wearing expensive clothes, driving a flashy car, or spending lots of money on overpriced, gallon-sized bottles of Grey Goose at the club.
The proponents of such theories, whether they come from the Pickup Artist community or hate groups like Men's Rights Activists, emphasize that single, lonely, "beta" males will have no chance with women unless they accept this evo-psych philosophy and learn how to be alpha. But here's the honest truth: such strategies only work on young, naive, inexperienced, and (more often than not) under-educated women. So if that's what you're attracted to, by all means, google their advice forums and go to town. Go on an Ed Hardy shopping spree, drench yourself in Axe body spray, and unleash your inner "alpha male." Just be forewarned that walking down that path will severely limit your dating prospects both now, and in the future.
Women Are More Attracted to Healthy Men
It should be noted that the evo-psych philosophy has some roots in biological and evolutionary truth. As we discussed in our article on what men find attractive, both men and women are attracted to mates who will, in theory, help them produce strong, attractive offspring with robust immune systems. If she sniffs you out - literally - and her brain calculates that your DNA + her DNA = super-babies, she'll be that much more attracted to you.
So how can you, as a man, prove to prospective females that you have the DNA they are looking for? It's simple - keep your body healthy. Following a balanced diet and exercising regularly aren't just great for your outward appearance. They help reduce DNA damage and delay the onset of premature aging. And they do this by encouraging your body to produce higher levels of testosterone and Human Growth Hormone (HGH for short).
Therefore, in a way, women are more attracted to testosterone-producing "alpha" men - but you don't need to sell your soul, act like a jerk, max out your credit cards, or live in the gym in order to achieve this more authentic version of the "Alpha" status. All you have to do is take care of your body, and give it what it needs to be the healthiest version of yourself that you can be.
Supplements for Enhanced Male Health
Anything that can help your body naturally increase its in-house production of HGH and/or testosterone will likely improve your health and, by extension, increase your attractiveness to women. One of our favorite HGH supplements is called HGH Factor. There are numerous benefits to encouraging your pituitary gland to release more HGH into your blood stream: building lean muscle, burning off fat, and having better energy & endurance in the gym are just a few.
